The College of Engineering has announced plans to hold a live virtual Commencement Celebration to honor graduating seniors for their perseverance and accomplishments. The event will take place on Saturday, June 12, at 11:15 AM. To participate in the live event, click here.
The program will include opening remarks from Glenn Beltz, the associate dean of undergraduate studies and a professor of mechanical engineering, a message from Rod Alferness, dean of the College Engineering, as well as an address from Tiffany Cowan, the student speaker who will represent the Class of 2021. The celebration will also include a presentation of student awards and the reading of the names of students who signed up for the university’s event through Marching Order. More than three hundred CoE students from the classes of 2021 and 2020 have registered.
Organizers hope that friends and family of the graduating seniors, as well as college faculty and staff will join in the celebration that is expected to last less than an hour.
The college also launched a webpage to celebrate the Class of 2021. The site includes a message from dean, a printable commemorative event program that lists all students who earned degrees from the College of Engineering, as well as stories on students who won college awards this year. The webpage also features an interactive social media feed that shows posts that include #UCSBCOE2021. To visit the page, click here, or to visit the page dedicated to the Class of 2020, click here.
