On June 18, the award for the Best Student Paper at the the 31stIEEE/CVF Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR), one of the most important conferences in the field of computer science today, went to UC Santa Barbara computer science doctoral student Xin Wang, a student in the the lab of Assistant Professor William Wang. Xin Wang's paper, titled “Reinforced Cross-Modal Matching and Self-Supervised Imitation Learning for Vision-Language Navigation,” bested some 1,300 papers accepted for the conference, of more than 5,000 that were submitted. It is a tremendous achievement.
