Operating Systems and Distributed Systems, Algorithms and Architectures, Programming Languages and Software Engineering

Balkind's research focuses on the overlap between computer architecture, programming languages, and operating systems. He pursues pragmatic research that requires building real systems which touch on all three areas, like the 25-core Piton chip.
