We asked our community of alumni, students, faculty, staff, and supporters to share their stories. This week we feature a contribution from alumnus Jaiom Sambyal, who earned his MS in Mechanical Engineering in 1983:
"Dr. Fred Milstein was one of the greatest teachers I had during my graduate studies at UC Santa Barbara from 1981-1983. I am grateful for him to have given me an assistantship during my graduate program.
Around November of 2007, I was visiting UCSB with my two kids who were looking at different colleges to pursue their undergraduate studies. During that visit, Dr. Milstein, who was still teaching in the Mechanical Engineering department, told me that if I ever wanted to get my PhD, I was still welcomed to pursue it under his guidance."
Thank you, Jaiom!
