Research
Barley is currently researching corporate power in the United States, the rhetorical history of telecommuting, and how sophisticated mathematical modeling tools are altering the work of engineers who design automobiles. His overall focus is on technology's role in occupational and organizational change, science and innovation in industrial settings, organizational and occupational culture, corporate power, social network theory and macro-organizational behavior.
