Academic Advising in the College of Engineering
All students have access to two types of professional staff advisors: Major Advisors and College Advisors.
Major vs. College Advising
UCSB students are expected to work closely with their major advisors involving major requirements and elective selection. All other academic advising is primarily handled by the College advisors. If you're not sure who to ask, start with a College advisor. We're happy to help.
All in-person meetings happen at Harold Frank Hall 1006.
College of Engineering Academic Advisors
The advising office will be closed 11:30am-4pm on November 27th, December 12th, and December 18th.
Drop-in Advising Available:
Mornings: Monday, Thursday, Friday 10:30 am - 11:30 am
Afternoons: Monday-Friday 1:00-3:30 pm
No drop-in advising Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.
Academic Advising Appointments (available in-person and on Zoom)
If you are feeling unwell please book a Zoom appointment or, if you already have an in-person appointment, contact us to modify your appointment to a Zoom appointment.
Do not book an appointment with a college advisor to discuss a change of major from another college to the College of Engineering. Instead, scroll down, and book an appointment with the major advisor for the major you want to change into or double major with. More information about changing major is available here.
Shariq Hashmi, Academic Advisor, General Academic Advising for all COE students
Frances Thompson, Academic Advisor, coordinator for special programs (Honors, Study Abroad, Transfer Students). For general academic advising meetings, please book with Sarah or Shariq.
