Engineering Professor Appointed as Guest Professor of Shanghai Jiao Tong University
Electrical and computer engineering professor Kaustav Banerjee has been appointed as a Guest Professor by China’s Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU). A formal ceremony is being scheduled during the next few months in SJTU.
The guest professorships are highly prestigious and accorded to only a few academics from around the world that are internationally recognized as leaders in their fields. The Guest Professor appointments, which are unique to China, are designed to foster collaborations with leading academics at top universities worldwide. The appointment of Prof. Banerjee as SJTU guest professor will help facilitate exchanges between the School of Electronic, Information and Electrical Engineering (SEIEE) at SJTU and the College of Engineering at UCSB.
SJTU is renowned as one of China’s leading universities with 31 schools, hundreds of graduate and post-graduate programs, and 11 state key laboratories and national engineering research centers. SJTU is also renowned for their comprehensive academic ranking of world universities since 2003 (ARWU).
Banerjee is a Fellow of IEEE and also a Distinguished Lecturer of the IEEE Electron Devices Society since 2008. He is the director of the Nanoelectronics Research Lab at UCSB and his research in nanoelectronics has been recognized with numerous other awards and honors. He was one of five recipients of the Bessel Research Award from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in Germany in 2011.
