NAE Symposium on Energy Efficiency and Sustainability

A frequently overlooked feature of the global energy crisis is the opportunity to save enormous amounts of energy by deploying energy efficient technologies. As much as 30% of the total energy consumed each year in the U.S. is wasted and could potentially be saved by implementing more efficient methods of generating, transmitting and deploying energy (by comparison, this amount exceeds the entire annual consumption of energy in India). Unlike energy conservation, energy efficiency does not impede economic progress, but provides continued growth by implementing innovative technologies that enable us to do more with the same or less energy. This symposium will examine some key aspects of current research in energy efficiency and the related topic of sustainable energy.
