College of Engineering Dean Matthew Tirrell appeared recently on a panel with Republican presumptive presidential nominee John McCain, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, former CIA director James Woolsey, and Michael Feeney, executive director of the Land Trust for Santa Barbara County. McCain advocated a range of energy programs and incentives spanning conventional and alternative energy sources, to which Dean Tirrell responded with agreement but also with a request that McCain consider energy efficiency technologies beyond the obvious.
