UCSB Extension's Open University Program
|
The Open University Program (formerly known as the Open Enrollment Program) administered by UCSB Extension allows you to enroll in UCSB regular session courses held on campus, pay for courses on a per unit basis, and earn transferable units-all without being formally enrolled at UCSB.
Some things to keep in mind if considering the Open University Program as an option:
- You will not be enrolled as a student at UCSB and the Registrar will thus be unable to verify your enrollment. This may be a concern if your medical, dental, or car insurance requires verification of enrollment.
- You will not be eligible for financial aid from the UCSB Office of Financial Aid.
- You will not be eligible for the quarterly Dean's Honors.
- You may not be eligible for any of the awards based on academic merit that are distributed at the College of Engineering's Senior Sendoff.
- The units earned at Extension cannot be used to satisfy the Residency required of all degree seekers.
- The courses and grades earned at UCSB Extension will be added to your official UCSB transcript upon receipt of transcripts from Extension and will be factored into any appropriate GPA's.
Please make sure to talk to one of the academic advisors in the College of Engineering Office of Undergraduate Studies to determine if UCSB Extension is a viable option for you.
